Negotiations between the Chairman of "Uzbekiston Temir Yullari" Zufar Narzullaev and the appointed head of Afghanistan's Railway Department by the Taliban, Baht-ar-Rahman Sharafat, took place in the Afghan city of Hairaton in the Balkh province, Nova24.uz reports.

The delegations from both countries discussed cooperation in the field of railway transport and agreed to promptly begin the reconstruction of the Afghan section of the railway from Hairaton to Naibabad to Mazar-i-Sharif, with a length of 80 kilometers. The Uzbek side will be responsible for the modernization.

The press service of "Uzbekiston Temir Yullari" stated that the construction and modernization of railways for Afghanistan will open up new prospects for strengthening trade and the economy.

Earlier, the Taliban opened the first part of the Kushka water canal from the Amu Darya River and asserted their rights to water from the river, threatening neighbors with military action. Subsequently, a government delegation from Uzbekistan visited Afghanistan to address the canal construction issue, but an agreement could not be reached. The Taliban only assured that the canal "promises benefits to all parties."

An agreement has been reached for Afghanistan to send patients to Uzbekistan, and the Taliban will send a delegation to Uzbekistan to assess the healthcare system.
