Chinese automotive brands are adapting to Tashkent’s new protectionist policy: instead of importing electric vehicles, local production will be established, Autostrada.uz reports.
Runking Motor Co. Ltd and Central Asia Motors Co. have signed an agreement to produce the most popular Changan models in Uzbekistan—Deepal S07, S05, Changan Nevo Q05, and Changan Nevo A05. The project is led by Runking Motor Co. Ltd., Changan’s official distributor in Uzbekistan. The company was registered in February 2024 with a charter capital of 2 billion soums.
The actual vehicle production will be carried out by LLC Central Asia Motors Co., which was registered in September 2019 with a charter capital of 8.8 billion soums.
It is expected that localizing production will make the vehicles more affordable for local consumers.
