As of the first nine months of 2024, Uzbekistan's total external debt amounted to $60.2 billion, according to the Central Bank's report on the balance of payments, international investment position, and external debt, reports Uznews.uz.
Uzbekistan's public external debt is approximately $32.5 billion, while corporate (private) debt amounts to $27.7 billion. The public external debt balance also includes accrued but unpaid interest.
The report notes that since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan's external debt has increased by $7.2 billion, including a $2.8 billion rise in public debt and a $4.4 billion increase in private debt.
The 2025 state budget has set a limit of $5.5 billion for external borrowing, with $3 billion allocated to support the state budget and $2.5 billion for financing investment projects.
The maximum net volume of government securities issued on behalf of Uzbekistan is set at 30 trillion soums, approximately $2.3 billion.
Additionally, the document allocates 46 trillion soums ($3.5 billion) for the repayment of public debt.
