Uztemiryulkonteyner JSC continues to expand its international operations: under the “Uzbekistan → Europe” program, the company has launched multimodal shipments of urea (nitrate) to seaports in Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria, according to a post on the company’s official Telegram page.
The cargo was dispatched from the Sergeli logistics center by a container train consisting of 39 forty-foot containers. The train travels via the CASCA+ corridor, passing through the Georgian port of Poti, before being distributed to the ports of Burgas (Bulgaria), Piraeus (Greece), and Naples and La Spezia (Italy). The total transit time ranges from 25 to 30 days.
According to the company, these shipments strengthen Uzbekistan’s export supply chains and enhance the competitiveness, safety, and efficiency of deliveries to global markets.
The CASCA+ (Central Asia – South Caucasus – Anatolia Plus) project is a multimodal transport corridor initiated by the state railway companies of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and other regional partners. It aims to link Central Asia with Europe through the South Caucasus and Anatolia.
CASCA+ has already demonstrated success: in December 2022, the first container train from Uzbekistan reached the port of Burgas in Bulgaria, marking the beginning of regular freight services along the route.
Uzbekistan is also working to attract private logistics operators to further develop CASCA+ and increase cargo turnover. In September 2025, a delegation from Uztemiryulkonteyner visited Baku, holding talks with Azerbaijani logistics companies including ADY Express and Alliance Multimodal, aimed at expanding freight flows and strengthening private sector participation.
Domestically, Uzbekistan is advancing major infrastructure initiatives. In cooperation with DP World, the company has launched a project to build a multimodal logistics terminal in Tashkent, covering 82 hectares and featuring railway connections, warehouses, and customs clearance zones.
Such projects significantly boost Uzbekistan’s logistics potential and enhance the viability of both the CASCA+ corridor and other trans-Eurasian transport routes.
