The quality of liquefied gas and petroleum products imported from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan has improved, and the volume of deliveries has increased, said Maulvi Faizullah Tamim, the head of Afghanistan's National Standards Authority, during a meeting with the Turkmenistan Ambassador Hoja Ovezov. This was reported by the Afghan news agency Bakhtar news.

Tamim expressed hope that the remaining minor issues regarding the quality of non-standard goods imported into Afghanistan will be resolved.

Tamim thanked Turkmenistan for the affordable prices of liquefied gas and petroleum products exported to Afghanistan, as reported by the press service of the Turkmenistan Embassy in Kabul.

In 2023, the Afghanistan National Standards Authority (ANSA) returned several tankers (at least around a hundred) of liquefied gas to Turkmenistan due to its low quality.

In July 2022, due to the increased prices of gas, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan signed a contract for the supply of "thousands of tons" of Turkmen LNG. The Afghan government expected this to lead to a reduction in its cost in the country.
