According to the press service of Kazakh Tourism, following independent anonymous inspections, five domestic hotels have received the One MICHELIN Key distinction, the equivalent of culinary stars in the hotel industry, Kazpravda.kz reported.
These include The Veil Hotel, The St. Regis Astana, The Ritz-Carlton, Astana, The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, and the high-mountain Tenir Eco Hotel. Nine more hotels in the country are included in the guide's general recommendation category.

These include the capital's The Veil Hotel, The St. Regis Astana, and The Ritz-Carlton, Astana, as well as the Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, in Almaty, and the high-altitude Tenir Eco Hotel in Shymbulak. Nine more hotels in the republic are included in the guide's general recommendations category.
The guide's expansion in the region also included other countries in Central and Greater Eurasia: Uzbekistan was also included in the catalog, where the InterContinental Tashkent hotel in Tashkent was awarded the distinction.
Furthermore, Mongolia (the eco-hotel Ayan Zalaat near Ulaanbaat) and Armenia received their first MICHELIN Key cities in the macro-region. The evaluation was conducted by anonymous inspectors based on five universal criteria, including architectural and design uniqueness, service consistency, price-quality ratio, and the property's ability to convey the local context of the region.
This official recognition by MICHELIN experts marks the institutional emergence of the region's premium tourism industry segment on a global level. Inclusion in the international directory creates direct channels for attracting high-ticket foreign travelers who value global quality standards and increases service exports.
The diversity of the listed properties—from business hotels and architectural complexes in Astana and Tashkent to ethno- and eco-friendly concepts in the Almaty region—is pushing the local market toward further standardization of hospitality. This systematically strengthens Central Asia's positioning as a dynamically developing tourism and cultural hub.
