The Chinese consortium Afghan Yuchang (AYCC) is beginning a large-scale energy project in Afghanistan, planning to generate 400 megawatts of coal-fired power, Ariananews.af reports.

The agreements were reached during a meeting between Abdul Haq Hamkar, CEO of the national power company DABS, and Luo Zhongchun, head of the consortium.

The project will be implemented in several phases: the first phase will involve the construction of a 60 MW power plant in Kabul, followed by the deployment of the main 320 MW capacity in Takhar Province. The head of DABS assured investors of his full support and investment security, noting that the development of domestic generation is a priority for ensuring the country's energy independence and stimulating industrial growth.

DABS management emphasized that the development of domestic energy sources is progressing significantly faster than in previous years. The new coal-fired capacity is designed not only to meet the population's growing demand for electricity but also to create a reliable foundation for the development of trade and local production.
