The head of the parliament of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairman of China, Xi Jinping, held negotiations in Beijing.
The sides discussed the key vectors of Turkmen-Chinese interaction, which demonstrate progressive dynamics on a bilateral and multilateral basis, with a focus on the long-term perspective, Orient.tm reports.
Xi Jinping called for the strengthening of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Turkmenistan, which serves the fundamental interests of both countries and the common aspirations of both peoples.
China will continue to work with Turkmenistan to promote sustainable and long-term development of bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two nations, said Xi Jinping, as reported by Xinhua.
Berdimuhamedov noted that the traditional friendship between Turkmenistan and China spans more than two thousand years, rooted in the distant past, and both countries and their peoples were closely connected by the Great Silk Road.
The Great Silk Road, which passed through the territory of Central Asia from China to Europe, became a factor in the development and progress of the entire world civilization.
"Speaking about ensuring sustainable development in the region, I emphasize the importance of efforts to align Turkmenistan's strategy of 'Reviving the Great Silk Road' with China's 'Belt and Road Initiative.' For many years, this initiative has contributed to the strengthening of trade and cultural ties in the Eurasian region," said the Chairman of Turkmenistan's Halk Maslahaty.
Turkmenistan is firmly committed to further strengthening brotherly and friendly relations with China, Berdimuhamedov stated, highlighting the high level of mutual trust, mutual understanding, and openness achieved in recent years in the relations between the two countries.
Such a nature of cooperation makes a noticeable constructive contribution to maintaining and strengthening international stability and security, contributes to addressing a range of pressing regional issues, and serves as an essential factor in accelerating and expanding trade and economic processes on the Asian continent, said Berdimuhamedov.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the signing of bilateral documents took place.
These included an Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on Technical and Economic Cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China on Cooperation to Strengthen the Capacity of the Authorized Economic Operator Program.
