Construction is continuing at the Tamchy Special Financial and Investment Territory (SFIT) on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, reported 24.kg, citing the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev visited the site and was briefed on construction work, infrastructure and planned facilities. The project provides for phased construction of office centres, residential complexes, business and tourism infrastructure, housing for future residents and a resort and recreation zone. After the visit, Kasymaliev gave instructions to the officials responsible for its further implementation.
Tamchy is designed to attract international capital and develop financial services, fintech, the IT industry, logistics and tourism. Its key feature will be a special legal, tax and foreign-exchange regime for participants. The zone will also have an international dispute resolution centre based on English law, a model used by financial centres such as the Astana International Financial Centre and the Dubai International Financial Centre to reassure foreign investors.
The government has already set the zone’s contribution to the state budget: in October, a Cabinet resolution fixed it at 0.03% of the funds received by the management company during the technical launch period. The amount invested so far and the companies involved have not been disclosed.
