The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) plans to present its work on developing a program to strengthen the southern border by July 2024. This was stated by the Secretary General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov, in an interview with TASS.

"The work on adopting the Target Interstate Program of the CSTO for strengthening sections of the Tajik-Afghan border is proceeding quite actively," noted Tasmagambetov. "It includes specific measures aimed at ensuring security in the southern part of the CSTO's responsibility zone."

According to him, at the end of February and the beginning of March, a meeting of representatives of the relevant ministries and agencies of the CSTO member states and members of the working group for finalizing the draft Target Interstate Program took place.

"The draft program was approved by the CSTO Permanent Council and sent for internal coordination to the member states," the CSTO Secretary General emphasized. "It is important to note the political will of the leadership of the two member states of the organization - Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who are aware of the scale of the threats emanating from Afghanistan. We very much hope that in the first half of the year, the Secretariat will be able to present the results of this work," Tasmagambetov said.
