The Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Asad Majid Khan, praised Tajikistan’s contribution to strengthening the organization’s activities. He made this statement on March 25 following a meeting with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Avesta.tj reports.
Asad Majid Khan noted that the meeting focused on key issues related to ECO’s upcoming initiatives and priorities for 2025. Special attention was given to preparations for the 17th ECO Summit, which will take place in July in Azerbaijan.
The ECO Secretary General also congratulated the President of Tajikistan on the signing of an important border agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing that this event is significant for both countries and the entire region.
"Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are active members of ECO, and this agreement strengthens their cooperation within the organization," he stated.
Additionally, Asad Majid Khan expressed gratitude to the Tajik side for organizing the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, which will be held in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, 2025. He highlighted that this initiative is a crucial step in preserving the region’s natural resources and holds great importance for the global environmental agenda.
During his visit to Dushanbe, the ECO Secretary General also participated in the International Jewelry Forum and Exhibition of Tajikistan. He emphasized the forum’s importance for the development of the jewelry industry and encouraged Tajikistan to continue strengthening its leadership in industrial development and organizing similar events.
