The foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan discussed a range of issues of bilateral relations on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, reports the press service of the Tajik Foreign Ministry.
The parties are interested in a speedy resolution of border issues. The ministers discussed a range of issues in bilateral relations.
Issues regarding the progress of the work of the commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state border were raised.
The parties’ interest in resolving border issues as quickly as possible, based on the instructions of the top leadership of the two countries, was emphasized.
Meanwhile, the day before it became known that a regular meeting of topographic working groups and working groups on legal issues of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border took place in Batken from February 25 to March 3.
The parties exchanged proposals to describe the passage of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border line in the remaining sections and decided to continue this work at the next meeting, which will take place on the territory of Tajikistan.
The parties have already agreed on more than 170 km of the state border out of 196 km, which are considered disputed and undescribed territories.
In early February, the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry officially visited Dushanbe, where he held talks with his Tajik counterpart and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The latter, following the meeting, stated that the parties had completed the description of 90% of the state border.
As a result, a cooperation program for two years was agreed upon and adopted. It also became known that the topographic commissions of the two countries agreed on another 4 km of the state border.
