The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia in a telephone conversation discussed "the expansion of multifaceted cooperation and the strengthening of relations of a comprehensive strategic partnership," the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
“The parties stressed with satisfaction the ongoing active contacts at different levels and the growing joint fruitful work on the implementation of agreements at the highest level,” Mirziyoyev’s press service notes.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Russia has increased by more than 30%, the parties stressed.
On December 1-2, Samarkand will host a meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of heads of government of the two states, during which current and future cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy will be considered.
It is also planned to hold a number of business events with the participation of representatives of leading industrial enterprises and companies of the two countries.
The Presidents exchanged views on the issues of "practical cooperation in a multilateral format, including in the Central Asian region."
“The telephone conversation between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia took place in a traditionally open, trusting and friendly atmosphere,” the press sevice of Uzbek President emphasizes.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, following a recent visit to Russia, said that Vladimir Putin proposed creating a "some kind of tripartite union" of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. He added that he was ready to consider this proposal and that Putin was going to call Shavkat Mirziyoyev on this issue.
After the talks, the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan noted that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin discussed the creation of a "tripartite gas union" (Russia + Kazakhstan + Uzbekistan).
