Commander of the Ground Forces of the Iranian Army, General Kiumars Heydari, announced that additional units would be deployed soon on the borders with Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, Trend reports.
On "sensitive" sections of the border in this direction, rocket and artillery systems, UAVs, and mobile assault units will be deployed, stated General Heydari.
The Iranian general emphasized that this step should not be seen as a threat to the territories of Iran from these directions. According to Heydari, it is taken to support and enhance the combat readiness and qualifications of army units.
Iranian news agencies stated that this announcement was made during a visit by military officials to the construction site of residential buildings for the military in South Khorasan.
