The legal statements made by the Prime Minister of Armenia about the suspension of its membership in the CSTO or its freezing have no grounds or effect, said Roman Vasilyenko, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, in the Senate of Kazakhstan.

"We see a statement about Armenia de facto suspending its participation in the CSTO. As far as I know, Armenia has not taken any legal actions to suspend its membership in the CSTO. In other words, de jure, Armenia is not suspending its CSTO membership," stated the diplomat.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, announced that Armenia has de facto suspended its membership in the CSTO, and if issues are not resolved, Yerevan will do it de jure as well.

According to him, the "actual freeze" of Armenia's participation in the CSTO means the absence of a permanent representative and the country's non-participation in CSTO events at the high and highest levels.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan added that Armenia has not taken any legal actions to suspend its membership in the CSTO.

"Currently, Kazakhstan's representative serves as the Secretary-General of the CSTO. Kazakhstan is working to strengthen this organization, which, in our view, plays a very important role in the field of security. It has played, is playing, and will play an important role for the security of Kazakhstan," emphasized Vasilyenko.

It is worth noting that the CSTO Secretariat stated that there have been no statements from Yerevan regarding the suspension of its membership.
