Kazakhstan almost doubled its exports to EAEU countries since creation of Union

Exports from Kazakhstan to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have grown by 90% since 2015, according to Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, who reported this during a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Sputnik reports.

In 2015, the total export volume was $5.1 billion, and by 2022, it reached $9.7 billion, stated Zhumangarin.

During the meeting at the Akorda - the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan - the Vice Prime Minister informed President Tokayev about the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

He reminded that in 2024, 10 years will have passed since the integration of the five countries. Kazakhstan's mutual trade with EEU partners has grown by 74% over this period, from $16.3 billion to $28.3 billion, added Zhumangarin.

Regarding the directive to increase processing volumes in the agro-industrial complex from 30% to 70%, the Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan noted that the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has prepared a pool of 500 major potential projects in the agricultural sector amounting to 1.6 trillion tenge for implementation in 2024-2026.

"For the first time, a second-tier domestic bank expressed readiness to invest around 500 billion tenge of its own funds into the implementation of these projects," stated Zhumangarin during the meeting.

The Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan also mentioned that the list of potential projects will be updated in the near future.

President Tokayev instructed to strengthen control over the effective use of funds in agricultural projects and ensure the quality preparation of the planned international events.
