Tajikistan could receive up to $1.8 billion in concessional and private financing over seven years under the World Bank's new country program for fiscal years 2026–2032. However, the maximum amount of funding is not guaranteed and will depend on the implementation of economic reforms, the availability of resources, and an improved investment climate, Asiaplus.tj reported.

Under the International Development Association (IDA), the country could receive $1–1.2 billion. Starting in fiscal year 2027, Tajikistan is expected to transition from grants to concessional loans. This is due to rising per capita income and a gradual change in the conditions for access to grant financing.

Another $600 million could be mobilized through the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), including IFC's own investments and funds from private investors.

For Tajikistan, the program is important not only because it could attract up to $1.8 billion but also because international financing is directly linked to economic reforms. The transition from grants to loans simultaneously signals an increase in the country's revenues and requires more efficient use of external resources.

The ability to attract private capital is particularly important. If Tajikistan can reduce investment risks, improve the business environment, and ensure predictable regulations, IFC and MIGA funds could serve as a signal to other international investors.

Thus, the World Bank program is not just a source of financing for Dushanbe, but an incentive for economic modernization. Successful implementation of reforms will transform external resources into new investments, production, and jobs, enhancing Tajikistan's competitiveness in Central Asia.
