Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, held talks in Brussels with the leadership of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers Europe (IOGP Europe). The main topic of the meeting was the development of Caspian energy infrastructure and the organization of Turkmen natural gas supplies to the European market, Orient.tm reported.
Representatives of the European association emphasized the particular importance of route diversification for ensuring the EU's energy security, noting the continuing role of natural gas in the transition to clean energy. Participants discussed establishing direct cooperation between the Turkmengas State Concern and international oil and gas corporations, as well as regular expert consultations.
Sapar Palvanov expressed the country's readiness to develop long-term export routes to the west, tapping the vast resource potential of Turkmenistan's fields. The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue contacts to thoroughly explore practical mechanisms for Caspian energy transit.
Direct dialogue between Ashgabat and European industry institutions is becoming critical for Brussels amid the planned phaseout of Russian hydrocarbon imports. Connecting the gigantic resources of the Galkynysh field to the Southern Gas Corridor via the Trans-Caspian route could become a fundamental factor in the long-term sustainability of the energy market in Southern and Central Europe.
Turkmengas's institutional rapprochement with European businesses facilitates the attraction of Western investment and advanced technologies necessary to minimize methane emissions and modernize production infrastructure. This approach allows the European Union to effectively combine supplier diversification with the strict standards of its own climate agenda.
