The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan has prepared a draft law "On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the State of Qatar on Military Cooperation," the portal Zakon.kz reports.
The signing of this agreement took place on December 12, 2023, in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, by the defense ministers of both countries.
According to the document, cooperation will be carried out in the areas of military education, medicine, science, cultural and sports events, as well as consultations on peacekeeping operations and combat training, with the possibility of concluding additional international agreements to specify areas of cooperation.
Forms of cooperation include official visits, working meetings, experience exchange, participation in educational projects, joint exercises, and other collaborative activities.
Special attention is given to the language training of military personnel, including education, accommodation, transportation, and medical services. In this regard, the sending party will bear the expenses related to language training unless there is a prior agreement to the contrary.
The document also establishes measures to protect the confidentiality of information obtained during cooperation and prohibits the use of this information to the detriment of the interests of the other party.
The draft law awaits consideration in the Mazhilis (lower house) of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The public discussion period for the document on the Open Regulatory Acts website will last until March 11.
