ASTANA – At the Kazakh-Turkish business forum, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced Kazakhstan's intention to intensify cooperation with Turkey in the agricultural sector, pharmaceuticals, and digital technologies, Kazinform reports.
According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan has significant potential in agriculture and is one of the world's largest grain exporters. In 2025, agricultural trade between the two countries increased by 25%. He also noted that Turkish companies are already implementing projects in Kazakhstan to process agricultural products, build greenhouse complexes, and produce food products.
The Kazakh president also emphasized the importance of cooperation in healthcare. Turkish companies Abdi İbrahim and Nobel have opened production sites in Kazakhstan, and YDA Group is participating in the construction of multidisciplinary hospitals.
President Tokayev also announced plans for joint work in the fields of artificial intelligence, fintech, and cybersecurity. According to him, new digital institutions have been created in the country, including an artificial intelligence center in Astana, and the development of the innovative city of Alatau should attract additional international investment.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in turn, noted Kazakhstan's economic growth and stated that Ankara intends to increase bilateral trade to $15 billion, strengthening the country's position as Turkey's key economic partner in Central Asia.
"Today, Kazakhstan has been recognized as the largest economy in Central Asia, with a foreign trade turnover of $145 billion. We believe that as a result of this growth, the country will become our largest trade and economic partner in the Turkic world by 2025. Of course, we do not plan to rest on our laurels; our goal is to increase it to $15 billion," the Turkish leader said.
