The export of Kazakhstani products to OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) countries constitutes more than half of the total trade turnover, amounting to $8.4 billion, Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade, Arman Shakkaliyev, stated. He made this announcement while delivering a report on enhancing the potential of OIC member states in trade during the 39th meeting of the Permanent Committee of the Organization for Economic and Trade Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul, Forbes.kz reports.

"OIC countries are among the active trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan. Our trade turnover for the first nine months of 2023 amounted to $12.5 billion. The export of Kazakhstani products to OIC countries makes up more than half of the total trade turnover - $8.4 billion. We need to unite the efforts of all Organization participants in developing transport and logistics infrastructure and expanding investment cooperation," explained the Kazakh Minister.

The official opening ceremony of the 39th meeting of the Permanent Committee of the Organization for Economic and Trade Cooperation (COMCEC) took place on December 4, with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Minister Shakkaliyev thanked President Erdogan for the high organization of the event and noted that Turkey is the largest trading partner of Kazakhstan, accounting for 35% of the total trade turnover with OIC countries.

During the meeting, ministers of the participating countries discussed further efforts to strengthen cooperation, including in trade and agriculture.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the largest official government Muslim international organization, comprising 57 countries. Today, OIC countries represent more than a quarter of the world's population - 1.7 billion people, spanning four continents: Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. Over the past three years, the total trade turnover between member states has increased from $3.7 trillion to $4.5 trillion.

Kazakhstan aims to make a significant contribution to ensuring food security. Over the past five years, Kazakhstan has doubled agricultural production volumes and exports to more than 80 countries worldwide, actively collaborating in this direction with OIC members, as stated in the report.
