Kazakhstan has taken a leading position among the countries of the Eurasian region, according to the results of the 2024 Global Peace Index (GPI) study, reports Eurasiatoday.ru.

The country showed impressive growth, rising from 78th to 59th place in the global ranking, improving its score by 10.8% compared to last year.

Key Factors for Rating Improvement

International experts from the Institute for Economics and Peace noted significant improvements in Kazakhstan across unchanged core parameters. Notable positive changes include the reduction of violent demonstrations affecting domestic issues, decreased spending on energy supply and heavy weaponry, and a reduction in the impact of arms imports.

Potential Risks and Challenges

Despite the overall improvement, analysts warn of potential internal problems. Experts point out that many socio-economic issues, which led to investigations in 2022, remain unresolved.

Additionally, the growth of economic policy in the country may indicate the potential recurrence of similar issues in the future.

Eurasian Region: Similarities and Comparisons

The average level of peace in the regions increased by 0.6%, making it the only region in the world with positive dynamics over the past year. However, despite the progress, the overall level of peace in the countries remains low due to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict.
