Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy has decided to adjust the export routes for oil from the Kashagan field following recent drone attacks on facilities belonging to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). A portion of the crude will be redirected to China, Kazinform reports.
According to the ministry, the attack on the CPC marine terminal did not result in a complete suspension of exports. Shipments continue through the operational port infrastructure under enhanced security measures.
“The Ministry, together with shippers, is promptly reallocating export volumes. In particular, a decision has been made to redirect part of Kashagan’s oil to China. The situation remains under constant monitoring,” the Ministry of Energy stated.
The latest attack on CPC infrastructure occurred on November 29 at 06:06 Astana time, when unmanned boats damaged the Single Point Mooring (SPM-2) unit in the waters of the port of Novorossiysk. The Government of Kazakhstan placed the situation under special supervision.
On the morning of November 30, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry issued an official protest. The incident was also discussed during the meeting between the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Ukraine in Vienna.
