The passport of Kazakhstan has risen by four positions and now holds the 66th place in the Henley Passport Index 2024, Kazinform reports citing Henleyglobal.com.
In the previous year, 2023, Kazakhstan occupied the 70th position in the Henley Passport Index.
According to the ranking, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), citizens of Kazakhstan can enjoy visa-free access to 78 destinations.
Kazakhstan shares the 66th spot in the ranking with Indonesia and Eswatini.
In this year's Henley Passport Index, Kazakhstan surpassed Azerbaijan, which secured the 70th place. Azerbaijani citizens have visa-free access to 72 countries.
Kazakhstan also outperformed its neighbors in the Central Asian region: Kyrgyzstan ranked 77th, Uzbekistan – 80th, Tajikistan – 81st, and Turkmenistan – 89th.
For the first time in 19 years, six countries – France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain – have topped the ranking of the most powerful passports. Citizens of these countries can travel visa-free to 194 destinations worldwide.
Finland, South Korea, and Sweden occupy the second place in the ranking, with citizens having easy access to 193 countries.
European countries, including Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands, take the third position with 192 destinations.
Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom are in the fourth position, while Greece, Malta, and Switzerland take the fifth.
