During the period from December 2022 to December 2023, the median download speed of mobile data in Kazakhstan increased by 61%, reaching 35.07 Mbps, as indicated in the data from the global mobile index Speedtest Intelligence, Ritm Eurasia reported.
This impressive progress allowed Kazakhstan to rise by 23 positions, reaching the 72nd place in December 2023, surpassing Uzbekistan (95th place), Kyrgyzstan (100th place), and Tajikistan (141st place).
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan also leads in Central Asia in terms of the average download speed of mobile data on the 4G network. Thus, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the median download speed on 4G was 28.26 Mbps, which is the highest indicator among the countries in the region.
The highest average download speed for 4G in Central Asia is recorded in Almaty - 32.32 Mbps, confirming Kazakhstan's leading position in the development of mobile communication. Other major cities, such as Astana and Shymkent, also demonstrate impressive 4G download speed metrics.
While 4G remains the dominant technology, Kazakhstan is already on the path to widespread implementation of the 5G network.
