Kazakhstan will produce environmentally friendly aviation fuel starting from 2028, Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev announced, as reported by the 24KZ TV channel.
A regional seminar of the European and North Atlantic Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), together with ACI EUROPE, titled 'Green Airports' was held in Almaty. One of the topics discussed at the seminar was the introduction of 'green technologies' in commercial aviation and the minimization of the harmful impact of major aviation hubs on the environment.
Speaking at the seminar, Lastayev noted that Kazakhstan is preparing a production base for the production of clean aviation fuel.
'There are a number of requirements. For instance, the European Union is now asserting that within just a few years, the use of environmentally friendly aviation fuel must be mandatory, and we are currently working on that. In Kazakhstan, we plan to start production in 2028,' Lastayev stated.
He specified that flights to the European Union will need to ensure the use of a certain share of environmentally friendly fuel, which will gradually increase.
