Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Kyrgyzstan has given new impetus to bilateral relations. Following the visit, as well as the Chinese leader's participation in the SCO summit, Bishkek and Beijing signed more than 30 documents covering trade, transport, the digital economy, education, energy, and other areas. Liu Jiangping, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kyrgyzstan, reported on the results of Xi Jinping's visit to Bishkek, Akchabar.kg reported.
One of the key political results was the signing of the Treaty of Eternal Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation. Its significance extends beyond traditional bilateral agreements, as it cements the long-term foundation of a strategic partnership.
Practical preferences are of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan. These include accelerating the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, modernizing border crossings, and developing transport infrastructure. New opportunities are also opening up in artificial intelligence, clean energy, mining, and engineering training.
Facilitated travel is also a significant advantage: Kyrgyz citizens now have access to 240-hour visa-free transit through China and a 30-day visa-free regime in Hainan.
Overall, relations between Kyrgyzstan and China are shifting from primarily infrastructure cooperation to a broader technological and investment partnership. For Bishkek, the main task now is to effectively transform the agreements reached into real projects, jobs, and new export opportunities.
