Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover for January–July 2026 reached $10 billion, an increase of 7.7% compared to the same period last year, Akchabar.kg reported.
Imports accounted for the majority of foreign trade—$8.3 billion, or 83.4% of total turnover. Over the year, imports grew by 8.7%. Exports amounted to $1.7 billion, or 16.6% of total turnover, an increase of 2.7%.
Thus, the growth in foreign trade was primarily driven by increased imports. The difference between import and export volumes for the seven months amounted to approximately $6.6 billion.
Kyrgyzstan's trade with the Eurasian Economic Union countries reached $3.7 billion during the reporting period, a 5.4% increase compared to the previous year. Exports to the EAEU countries decreased by 2%, while imports from them increased by 7.2%.
Kyrgyzstan's main trading partners within the EAEU remain Russia and Kazakhstan, accounting for 65.1% and 32.4% of mutual trade with the union's countries, respectively.
Meanwhile, trade with countries outside the EAEU amounted to $6.3 billion, an increase of 9.1%.
These trends indicate that foreign trade remains highly dependent on imports. At the same time, faster growth in trade with third countries indicates the expansion of Kyrgyzstan's foreign economic ties outside the EAEU. The ability to increase exports and expand the presence of Kyrgyz goods in foreign markets remains an important indicator for the country's economy.
