Leaders of Tajikistan and Iran intend to strengthen bilateral relations

In New York, as part of the session of the UN General Assembly, the first talks were held between the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the meeting, a range of issues related to Tajikistan-Iran cooperation was discussed. Emomali Rahmon, recalling the significant development and expansion of relations of friendship, brotherhood, and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that they are ready to continue taking joint practical steps to strengthen these ties.

Great attention was paid to developing cooperation in priority sectors of the economy and trade, expanding scientific and educational connections, and strengthening cultural and humanitarian interaction.

To ensure the consistent implementation of the outlined plans, the Long-term Program for Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries until 2030, practical cooperation within the framework of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, and the involvement of the Joint Investment Committee’s opportunities were recognized as important.

At the end of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon invited Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Tajikistan at a convenient time.
