Uzbekistan and Russia have always been together and remain reliable allies and strategic partners, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov said at the sixth meeting of the CA5 + Russia foreign ministers in Samarkand, Sputnik reports.
The multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia has reached an unprecedented high level in recent years. Saidov also added that Russia is the closest friend for the countries of the Central Asian region.
In the context of the aggravation of numerous threats and challenges, a confidential dialogue and mutual understanding between the countries of Central Asia and Russia is of particular importance. Russia is the closest friend, partner and ally for the countries of our region, said Saidov.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Russia held fruitful negotiations in Samarkand.
At the ministerial meeting, Sergey Lavrov again spoke about the gas cooperation between Uzbekistan, Russia and Kazakhstan, noting that discussions have advanced at the level of presidents.
