Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed establishing the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, Report News Agency reported.

The proposed format is intended to become a multilateral platform for exchanging experiences and coordinating approaches to climate change adaptation, combating desertification and drought, and rational water resource management.

The head of state emphasized that environmental security remains a serious challenge today and called on the international community to join forces to implement environmental technologies and enhance the resilience of national economies.

The initiative reflects Ashgabat's commitment to consistently strengthening regional cooperation and coordinating actions with CICA member countries in promoting green solutions.

The environmental agenda is vital for Turkmenistan, given its geographical location and critical dependence on water resources.

The threat of desertification, soil degradation, and depleted waterways in Central Asia pose direct risks to the country's agricultural sector and food security.

Under these circumstances, Ashgabat's diplomatic initiatives are helping to attract international investment and advanced technologies to address pressing environmental challenges.

The creation of a specialized platform allows Turkmenistan to strengthen its status as a regional hub for environmental initiatives and develop sustainable development mechanisms.
