President Mirziyoyev invited Ilham Aliyev to visit Uzbekistan

Negotiations between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan took place in Baku as part of the summit of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), Nova24.uz reports.

Ilham Aliyev thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his support and personal participation in the jubilee year for SPECA. Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on chairing the Program.

The leaders discussed the further strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship and strategic partnership. They also exchanged views on the advancement of projects in the chemical, energy, jewelry, machinery, construction, and other industries. The importance of further expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized.

Mirziyoyev proposed declaring the year 2024 as the Year of Intensive Development of Uzbek-Azerbaijani multifaceted relations. He also suggested establishing a systematic dialogue between the administrations of the presidents to exchange experiences and coordinate cooperation in the information space.

At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Azerbaijan to visit Uzbekistan on an official visit at a convenient time for him and to participate as an honorary guest in the "Central Asia - Cooperation Council of Arab Gulf States" summit, which will take place in 2025 in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan agreed on military cooperation. The defense ministers of the two countries discussed issues related to strengthening the armies of both nations.
