The President of Uzbekistan, at the SCO Plus meeting in Astana, stated the need to develop a new agenda for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reports TASS.
"The evolving realities require new strategic approaches to enhance the effectiveness of the SCO. And today, as it approaches its 25th anniversary, it is time to develop a new SCO agenda that corresponds to the enormous potential and increasing role of our organization in world politics and economy," stated Mirziyoyev.
He emphasized that the SCO supports a just world order based on multipolarity with the UN playing a leading role and adheres to international law.
"I propose to intensify joint efforts to strengthen the atmosphere of trust and friendship within the SCO, to remove barriers to deep cooperation, and to rethink the conceptual foundations of the SCO's activities," added the leader of Uzbekistan.
He noted that Uzbekistan sees the SCO as a center of cooperation without political and economic bias, attracting many countries with its potential and role in world politics and economy.
Prior to the SCO summit, President Mirziyoyev held several important meetings with leaders of other states who came to Astana. The SCO summit was attended by 10 members of the organization, as well as leaders from countries such as Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Qatar, UAE, and heads of international organizations such as the UN, CSTO, CIS, and others.
