Kazakhstan's statistical services have observed a decline in prices for socially important food products (SFP) for the second week in a row in April, Ritmeurasia reports.

The overall price growth index for two weeks in April was -0.2%. Thus, there is a decrease in the cost of onions (-2.6%), sunflower oil (-1.6%), buckwheat and chicken eggs (-1%), rice (-0.5%), horns (-0.2 %). At the same time, an increase in the average price index for beef was recorded (0.6%). This is due to a short-term increase in the cost of the product in the Aktobe region, where suppliers were unable to deliver meat to all sales points in a timely manner.

These figures were presented at a meeting in the government of Kazakhstan, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin. “A decrease in the average price index for NWPT is observed in eight regions, in six – at zero. Some price increases are noted in Aktobe (0.8%), Mangistau, West Kazakhstan (0.2%), Atyrau, Karaganda and Abay regions (0.1%),” noted First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Aizhan Bizhanova.

The situation in the regions affected by floods was discussed separately. “According to preliminary estimates, 130 retail establishments were damaged in the regions... Delivery of drinking water from Kokshetau, Astana, Karaganda and Omsk was organized in Petropavlovsk. An agreement has been reached with Kokshetauminvoda on round-the-clock bottling of drinking water,” said A. Bizhanova.

“Even if there is a minimal risk of flooding a warehouse with food supplies in the West Kazakhstan region, you need to find a safe place and remove the products. And so in all regions where there is even the slightest threat, food products must be taken to a safe place,” the Deputy Prime Minister instructed. Kazakhstan.

In early April, much of Kazakhstan was flooded due to a sharp rise in temperature and the resulting flooding.
