The current socio-political and economic situation in Afghanistan, as well as issues related to further cooperation within regional and international formats for Afghanistan aimed at resolving the situation, were discussed via video conference between Turkmenistan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vepa Hadjiev and the European Union's Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas Nicolson, Orient.tm reports.

The parties discussed matters related to the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers in the "EU - Central Asia" format and exchanged opinions on organizing the next meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan in the "EU - Central Asia" format.

In May of this year, Ashgabat hosted the fourth meeting of special representatives from the European Union and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan, and also the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Terhi Hakala. During that meeting, it was planned to hold a similar meeting in the autumn of 2023.
