The countries of Central Asia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC) are preparing the first meeting of the heads of state, the information agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said on the Dunyo portal.

In the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, a meeting was held between the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and representatives of the General Secretariat of the GCC, the agency reports.

"During the meeting, the dates of the first summit of the heads of state of the strategic dialogue "GCC - Central Asia" in Saudi Arabia and issues related to this event were discussed," says Dunyo.

Deputy Secretary General of the GCC Abdulaziz Hamad al-Uwaishik stressed that the Gulf countries have always had good relations with the countries of Central Asia and are interested in their further development.

"A firm unanimous commitment of the Gulf countries was expressed to deepen cooperation with the countries of the Central Asian region in all areas and further strengthen practical dialogue in the GCC-Central Asia format," the agency said.

In September 2022, in Riyadh, the countries of the Gulf and Central Asia held the first dialogue meeting at the level of heads of foreign affairs.

The GCC includes six Arab states with access to the Persian Gulf: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
