Tajikistan and Kazakhstan Agree to Increase Trade Turnover to $2 Billion

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Valikhan Turekhanov, said the two countries are aiming to increase their bilateral trade turnover to $2 billion, Asiaplus.tj reports.

Speaking at a briefing in Dushanbe on the outcomes of cooperation in 2025, he noted that current trade is expected to reach around $1.2 billion, reflecting steady positive momentum.

The diplomat outlined priorities for the near term, including maintaining strong political engagement, expanding cooperation in industry, agro-processing, logistics, digital trade, and coordinating efforts on multilateral platforms on issues of security and climate. Over the past five years, bilateral trade has grown by 29%, reaching $1.29 billion in 2024. Key traded goods include food products, metal products, petroleum products, and chemicals.

To further strengthen cooperation, the two sides are preparing a Roadmap to increase trade turnover through 2030, as well as an Agricultural Roadmap for 2026–2027.
