The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan has added Toyota Hilux vehicles equipped with detectors for detecting nuclear and radioactive materials to its arsenal.

This information is stated in a statement by the Agency of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Sputnik reports.

It is noted that the transfer was organized as part of the implementation of the National Action Plan of the country under UN Security Council Resolution 1540.

"The technical assistance was provided as part of the Green Border Security project," emphasized the department.

The program aims to strengthen the infrastructure of law enforcement agencies in Tajikistan along the border with Afghanistan.

In addition, the planned transfer includes special clothing, bulletproof vests, equipment for mountain operations, demining protective gear, and night vision devices.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov, called for strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border.

According to him, there is a risk of the spread of terrorist activity in the southern borders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) responsibility zone.

He also highlighted the threats of increasing illegal migration and the illicit trade of weapons and drugs.

It is worth noting that the leaders of the CSTO intend to approve a program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border in the near future.
