According to Tajikistan's statistical authorities, trade turnover between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan reached $770.1 million in January–June 2026, an increase of $192.1 million, or 33.2%, compared to the same period in 2025.
Kazakhstan has become Tajikistan's third-largest trading partner, after China and Russia. Meanwhile, Tajik imports from Kazakhstan increased by 32.4% to $712.9 million, while exports increased by 44.3% to $57.2 million.
The growth in mutual trade indicates strengthening economic ties between the two countries, but the structure of trade remains significantly unbalanced. Kazakhstan accounts for 13.6% of Tajik imports, while its share of exports is only 3.6%. This means that the further development of cooperation depends largely on Tajikistan's ability to expand its exports to the Kazakh market.
The 44.3% increase in exports is a positive sign. Agricultural products, textiles, processed goods, and other export items may provide further potential. At the same time, the growth in trade strengthens Kazakhstan as an important trade and transport partner for Tajikistan in Central Asia.
