Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed Beijing's readiness to work with Turkmenistan to implement the agreements reached by the two countries' leaders and advance cooperation on key projects in energy, trade, and transport infrastructure, Orient.tm reports.
The Chinese Foreign Minister made this announcement at a meeting with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in Beijing. The two sides also discussed cooperation within the UN and international issues.
Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation and coordination within the UN, noting the high level of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that the visit of Turkmen National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to China in March gave new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
Rashid Meredov, in turn, confirmed Ashgabat's interest in further deepening cooperation with China. The parties placed particular emphasis on the implementation of major projects in the gas industry, as well as expanding cooperation in trade, transport, and regional connectivity.
China remains the largest buyer of Turkmen natural gas and one of Turkmenistan's leading economic partners.
