Turkmenistan and Iran signed new agreements

Memorandums of Understanding in the field of veterinary medicine, agriculture, electric power, power lines, as well as the export of Iranian electrical equipment and construction materials, were signed during the 17th session of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between representatives of the two countries, Orient.tm reports.

As part of the negotiation process, discussions also took place regarding the necessity of establishing direct air communication between the Iranian city of Mashhad and the Turkmen capital, according to the Iranian news agency MEHR news.

During the session, the parties also reached an agreement on a barter deal involving the construction of the road from Gumdag (Turkmenistan) to Inche Boran (Iran).

The total value of the agreements reached during the commission meeting and the discussions between the official representatives of Turkmenistan and Iran amounted to nearly $1 billion. The countries expressed a firm commitment to the development of bilateral cooperation across all economic and logistical sectors.
