Turkmenistan, Iran and IRU enhance security of international transport system

A Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing transport and transit security through the TIR system was signed in Ashgabat between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRICA), and the International Road Transport Union (IRU), reports Turkmenportal.tm.

The signing ceremony took place during the III International Conference and Exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development" (ITTC-2024), organized in Turkmenistan's capital, according to the website of Turkmenistan's customs service.

The document is intended to simplify customs procedures, strengthen control over international transportation, and reduce administrative barriers.

This Memorandum of Understanding is expected to become a significant step towards improving transportation links between Turkmenistan and Iran, as well as strengthening relations between the two states.
