Turkmenistan is taking consistent steps to modernize customs procedures and implement digital solutions to facilitate trade in preparation for its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Galina Romanova, Head of the Joint Department of Public Finance and Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, announced this at the Economic Forum of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in Ashgabat, according to Turkmenportal.com.
"The most visible part of our work is simplification of trade procedures. This is where high politics meets the ubiquitous reality of business on our borders and transport corridors. We are taking consistent and concrete steps to modernize customs procedures and implement digital solutions that make trade faster and more transparent," Romanova said.
She noted that since receiving observer status, Turkmenistan has been carefully studying WTO agreements to ensure they align with national interests and long-term development goals.
