President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his visit to Azerbaijan, met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku, the Asia-today portal reported with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
President Mirziyoyev is in Baku to participate in the meeting of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement at the highest level, organized by Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, the presidents of the two countries noted that relations between the two countries had reached a qualitatively new level and were filled with concrete content.
In 2022, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan increased by more than 50%. Currently, the parties are implementing a number of cooperation projects in such priority areas as the automotive industry, the textile industry and sericulture. In the near future, the implementation of promising projects in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics will begin.
Mirziyoyev and Aliyev emphasized the importance of building up practical cooperation and exchange of experience in the development of free economic zones and the tax administration system, further expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
