Uzbekistan adopts strategy for development of artificial Intelligence Technologies

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Development Strategy until 2030, reports Asiaplus.tj.

The strategy aims to increase the value of AI-based software products and services to $1.5 billion.

Additionally, it outlines the following objectives:

- Increasing the share of AI-based services on the Unified Portal of Interactive Government Services (EPIGU) to 10%;
- Establishing 10 scientific laboratories dedicated to AI technologies and launching high-performance computing servers;
- Securing Uzbekistan's position among the top 50 countries in the Government AI Readiness Index.

A Center for AI Development and Digital Economy will be established under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan. It will focus on evaluating AI systems and software. The center will be funded by the Digital Technology Development Fund and through equity participation in startups.

Starting January 1, 2025, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development will provide the Ministry of Digital Technologies with $50 million in the form of an interest-free loan for five years to support AI development.

By September 1, 2025, a *Big Data* repository will be created to support projects and scientific research with the necessary information. By May 1, 2026, data processing capacities will be launched as part of AI technology implementation projects.

The following sectors have been identified as priorities for AI implementation:

- Banking and Finance: Fraud prevention, credit scoring, and market forecasting;
- Taxation and Customs: Reducing the shadow economy, forecasting suspicious customs operations, and risk management;
- Healthcare: Selection of diagnostic and treatment methods, analysis of medical images, and patient data management;
- Agriculture: Yield forecasting, resource management, and monitoring of crops, poultry, fish, and livestock;
- Energy: Resource management, optimization of energy generation and distribution, development of renewable energy sources, and demand forecasting.

At the October meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Moscow, Shavkat Mirziyoyev advocated for long-term cooperation in developing internet technologies and the Big Data industry. He proposed holding the next conference of the Commonwealth's leading analytical centers in Samarkand, focusing on AI development.
