Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to launch space satellites together

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are actively working on launching joint space satellites. The digital development ministers of the two countries, Sherzod Shermatov and Zhaslan Madiev, held a meeting in Astana, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan informed.

The negotiations took place within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation. The parties plan to prepare proposals for the joint launch of artificial satellites by the end of 2024.

The Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan emphasized that they discussed cooperation in the launch of a group of artificial satellites, as well as the analysis and development of proposals by the end of this year.

During the meeting, the topic of regional cooperation in digital skills training and the implementation of digital innovations was also raised.

In May 2022, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, approved a resolution on an intergovernmental agreement with Kazakhstan on cooperation in the exploration and peaceful use of space.

Later, the first meeting of the bilateral working group was held in Tashkent, during which the "Uzbekcosmos" agency expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan's experience in space monitoring of water resources for application in Uzbekistan.
