The Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy Issues, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, stated in an article for the Uzbek newspaper "Narodnoe Slovo" that "Uzbekistan objectively bears a special responsibility for the future of Central Asia," reports Kun.uz.

The article was dedicated to the efforts of Uzbekistan and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to establish relations with neighboring countries.

"The primary goal is to achieve 'zero problems with neighbors.' The conceptual foundation of regional policy is based on the principles of the inadmissibility of strengthening one's own security at the expense of the security of other states, openness, pragmatism, and constructivism, proactive dialogue based on equality, mutual respect, and consideration of interests," emphasizes Kamilov.

The former head of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the main direction of Tashkent's foreign policy is Central Asia. Uzbekistan aims for peaceful cooperation with neighboring countries.

"The President of Uzbekistan has set the main tasks of regional policy before the government and foreign policy apparatus – completing the processes of border settlement, jointly resolving issues of rational and fair water use, building interconnectedness of countries in economic, environmental, transport-logistics, and scientific-technological development, and more," noted Abdulaziz Kamilov.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the Honorary Badge for Outstanding Merits in the Development of Friendship, Good Neighborliness, and Mutual Understanding among the States of the Region at the summit of Central Asian leaders in Astana this year.
