Uzbekistan increases its gold and foreign exchange reserve by $1.5 bln

Uzbekistan's international reserves amounted to $35.4 billion as of April 1, 2023, according to the official report of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

In March 2023, Uzbekistan's reserves increased by $1.47 billion compared to February. The volume of foreign exchange reserves last month remained virtually unchanged, amounting to $10.11 billion (an increase of $42.8 million), according to a report by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Gold reserves for the month increased by $1.41 billion, despite a decrease in physical volume by 300,000 troy ounces. As of April 1, 2023, the total volume of gold amounted to 382.57 tons.

The value of the precious metal in vaults reached $24.25 billion, the highest since the publication of statistics by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan in 2018. In March, gold quotes exceeded $2,000 per troy ounce for the first time since April 18, 2022. While in February the price of gold fell to $1842 per ounce.
