In 2023, Kyrgyzstan's GDP reached 1 trillion 229 billion soms ($14,137,931), and state revenues doubled compared to 2021, stated Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, at the VI Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum in Issyk-Kul Region. The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from both countries, including Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, reports the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

Japarov emphasized that Russia remains a strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan, with the two countries not only sharing economic interests but also deep cultural, historical, and social ties.

Particular attention was given to trade and economic relations between the two countries. In 2023, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia exceeded $3 billion.

"Earlier, at the end of last year, the leaders of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Vladimir Putin and Sadyr Japarov, set an ambitious goal to increase this figure to $5 billion in the near future," noted the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

Energy was highlighted as one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation. Japarov mentioned joint projects with "Rosatom" on the construction of small hydroelectric power plants, as well as wind and solar power stations.

These initiatives aim to improve Kyrgyzstan's energy security and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources.

Additionally, plans for the development of the gas sector and the implementation of large energy projects, such as the construction of the "Chaldovar" and Kara-Keche thermal power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts, were discussed.

These projects are intended to provide Kyrgyzstan with the necessary energy resources and create new opportunities for the country's industrial development.

Akylbek Japarov and Alexey Overchuk also participated in the capsule-laying ceremony for the construction of a wind power plant in the Ton district of the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.
