President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has set a goal to double the volume of international freight transportation and increase the export of transport services to $3 billion, Ritmeurasia.ru reports.

Mirziyoyev was presented with a report on measures for the development of the transport and logistics system. Over the past seven years, the number of carriers in Uzbekistan has increased sevenfold, with their share in international transportation rising from 35% to 60%. At the same time, challenges related to the geopolitical situation have also grown.

The president emphasized the need for the consistent development of the transport and logistics system and the diversification of foreign trade routes.

"A task has been set to double the volume of international freight transportation and increase the export of transport services to $3 billion," the statement reads.

Mirziyoyev also highlighted the importance of increasing transit shipments through Uzbekistan.

"Relevant agencies have been instructed to boost cargo flows from abroad by introducing an electronic queuing system, reducing border crossing time to 20 minutes, and implementing online monitoring of transport vehicles," the statement says.
